Flormar’s “Magical Colour Effect Correcting Cream” – Review.

The ‘season to be jolly’ has officially come to a close and I have to say, my skin is squealing with relief. Many nights out, lots of make-up and lack of sleep can cause skin to dehydrate and blemish – disaster! So, over the past few days, I have ditched the ‘full-coverage’ foundation for a more moisturising option – Flormar’s “CC Cream”.

Flormar’s “Magical Colour Effect Correcting Cream” is marketed as a multi-purpose beauty product which illuminates and transforms skin from drab to fab in seconds. But, does it live up to expectations?

The “CC Cream” is available in four different shades:

  • CCO1 (Purple): brightens tired looking skin by balancing the yellow/green tones in your skin, to give you a more alert, fresher look.
  • CCO2 (Green): helps neutralise redness to give a more natural, even look.
  • CCO3 (Pink): neutralizes blue-green tones in your skin, to banish dark circles under the eyes.
  • CCO4 (Neutral): provides extra coverage and is ideal for problematic areas such as scars.

Of these shades, I was lucky enough to be gifted CCO3 and CCO4 and I have been reaching for both non-stop over the past two weeks. Both formulas contain light-reflecting pigments which transform into foundation when applied on to skin. This means that the shade adapts to match your natural skin tone. Now, ordinarily I think that ‘one shade suits all’ formulas are a gimmick but I have to say that this one adapted perfectly to my porcelain pale skin – no orange tone in sight!

The “CC Cream” does exactly what it claims to do on the packaging by illuminating and brightening skin. It’s perfect for providing a ‘barely there’ make-up look. CCO4 provides excellent coverage and would be ideal for blemish prone skin, while CCO3 will awaken tired, dull skin.

At a price point of just €11.95, this product is an absolute must-have and is definitely staying resident in my make-up bag. In fact, I am absolutely dying to purchase CCO2 because I’m always looking for new anti-redness formulas.

Let me know if you have tried this product. Or, if you have another “CC Cream” favourite.

Daily Make-Up Look on a Budget (The College Edition).

Quite a few of those who regularly read this blog are students and as you all know, college is a very expensive luxury. So, when I write about “high-end” products, I know that many of you are scoffing at the notion of spending €50 on foundation or €30 on a new lipstick.

Surely there must be a more affordable option? Well, today I have raided my make-up collection to put together an everyday look, using only “drugstore” products.

If you are not using a primer underneath your make-up, you need to invest in one. It will keep your foundation in place for considerably longer meaning that you won’t be practically barefaced come that 3pm lecture. I love this “Illuminating Primer” from Flormar which is available here for just €9.95. It’s really hydrating and should sooth skin which is sensitive to winter weather.

After applying primer, I always use a little liquid highlighter to brighten my complexion. I’m really enjoying this Botanic’s “Radiance Balm” which is available here for just €3.99. Apply lightly under foundation for a soft glow.

When it comes to choosing affordable products, I find it particularly difficult to fall in love with foundations. I am a Charlotte Tilbury fanatic but if I was on a strict budget, I would pick up this “Flawless Cream Foundation” from MeMeMe. It provides lovely, even coverage and is available in pharmacies nationwide for €15.99.

I rarely use bronzer when creating daytime looks because I’m so pale, and because I enjoy the extra few minutes in bed. Therefore, I really need a good blush to give my face some colour. I really like this Sleek blusher in the shade “Rose Gold” because it has a strong pigment which will last all day. It is also a great dupe for the Nars cult favourite “Orgasm” and is available at Cloud10 Beauty for just €5.99.

A good mascara is a must in my beauty book but, it is incredibly difficult to find a high quality formula at an affordable price. I really like Flormar’s “Spider Lash” which does exactly what it says on the packaging by giving an elongated effect, reminiscent of spider legs. Slightly gross imagery but really good results. Available here for just €4.95, this mascara is almost as good as my trusty Lancome “Grandiose” and that is a pretty big claim!

When creating a daytime look, my final step is always a pop of subtle lipstick. Go for something neutral like this Wet n Wild formula in “Bare it All” so you don’t look “over done”. At €2.99 this lipstick is a bargain so you can pick up as many as you like without feeling an iota of  guilt. Wet n Wild is available in pharmacies nationwide and in Dunnes Stores.

The final look you ask?

A “barely there” look which gives the illusion of flawless skin. And all for the grand total of €43.86 – that’s a heck of a lot of products for under €50. Student make-up bag? Sorted..

Flormar Fabulous!

Ok, so anyone who is following me on Instagram or Twitter will know that I’ve become obsessed with Flormar, a brand who have just recently introduced themselves in Ireland. I’ve been posting little snippets of my favourites for weeks now, so today I’m going to share a full post reviewing my must-haves.

Bronzer

With contouring remaining a huge trend on the make-up scene, a good bronzer is an essential tool in any kit. Check out Flormar’s ‘Bronzing Powder Face and Body’. Those of us who don’t tan will know that finding the correct shade of bronzer is a tough task, unless you favour the oompa loompa look. However, this Flormar powder is available in a perfectly subtle shade for fair skinned folk – result! The RRP of the bronzer is €9.95 and because it is positively huge in size, the value for money is insane. I’ve been using the product by applying it to the hollows of my cheeks with an angled contouring brush.

Flormar Lip gloss
Next up, I am madly in love with the ‘Long Wearing Lip Gloss’ in the shade ‘Backstage’. When I first received this colour in a goodie bag, I was majorly apprehensive of the super bright shade. However, I quickly learned that the formula can be layered for desired colour intensity. At €5.95, I couldn’t walk past one of these glosses in a pharmacy without picking it up.
Flormar Primer
Finally, we have my favourite Flormar product. This ‘Illuminating Primer Make-Up Base’ is liquid gold. I’ve tested it for both day-time and night-time wear and love the results. The formula creates a smooth base for make-up application. It is super hydrating and evens out dry patches while retaining a mattifying effect on skin. The best part is that the primer ensures that make-up remains on the skin for an extended period of time, eliminating the need for foundation touch ups. At €9.95, this product will be replacing more high-end versions in my make-up kit.

Here’s a look at the three products discussed upon application:

Flormar products are available in selected pharmacies nationwide and online at Simplyfoxy.com. What do you think? Will you be purchasing?
