REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial – My Stressed Skin Saviour.

Exam time is looming. I’m stressed out, living off junk food, drinking far too much coffee and oh boy, is my skin feeling it. My complexion, which has always been fairly flawless, is becoming lifeless and has lost it’s glow. So last week, I had a dig through my skincare cabinet in search of a rescue remedy. And eeeek – I think I’ve found one.

REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial

Let me introduce REN’s “Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial” €37.95. If you’re familiar with Glamglow products, this flash rinse aims to provide similar results such as: brightening skin, toning and lifting skin, unblocking pores and neutralising grey tones. Now, I’ve experimented with Glamglow products on more than one occasion and I have to admit, I’ve been underwhelmed. While I enjoy the relaxation element of using the masks, I find them messy and difficult to remove and the results just aren’t as instantaneous as I would like – at the price point of €56 per 50ml.

The REN “Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial” provides a difference. The formula is colourless, clean and easy to use. You simply apply the product to the face and neck after cleansing and massage in circular motions. Then, you dampen fingertips with warm water and massage again – this activates the Vitamin C in the formula. Leave for one minute (or 5) and voilà, rinse off using a facecloth.

Easy peasy, and the results are instantaneous! The high level of Vitamin C in the formula seems to work miracles by increasing radiance and reducing signs of extreme exhaustion. The only minor issue is that the formula has a scent reminiscent of Vitamin C tablets which does linger for approximately 15 minutes but it’s definitely bearable.

If you are feeling over-worked, wrecked, or even slightly (or extremely) hungover, this product will work as a rescue remedy for your complexion. The rest I’m afraid, must be left to a triple shot espresso.

REN products are available in pharmacies nationwide and this formula can be purchased here at Cloud10Beauty.com.

IsaDora – The Spring Collection.

For me, IsaDora has always been one of those cosmetic brands that I’m familiar with because I pass by their products in pharmacies or department stores but, have never really stopped to take a second look at. The brand seem to be positioned along the fine line which separates “high-end” and “drugstore” cosmetics – meaning that while they’re much more affordable than brands like Dior and Chanel, they’re not dirt cheap like brands such as Catrice or Flormar. So, when I was kindly sent some samples from the IsaDora Spring 2016 collection, I had no idea what to expect.

The new collection is inspired by the French and Italian Riviera, aiming to capture a burst of sunshine through the use of soft, pretty pastel colours. After a winter filled with bold colours and strong glitter, I have to say that this collection is like a breath of fresh air.

IsaDora “Velvet Matt Nails” (€8.25):

Isa Dora Nail polish

The brand have introduced 6 matte-satin shades to their nail polish collection; the formula of which promises to deliver a velvet finish. I have been putting the shade “Bohemian” through its paces for the past two weeks and I have to say, I am delightfully surprised by the product. It’s not a shade that I ever would have picked up from a cosmetic counter because it does look a bit “wishy-washy” in the bottle. However, upon swatching I fell deeply, madly in love. The wide brush and smooth texture allow for easy application – just two coats and your nails will look fabulous. Careful to avoid using a base or top coat though, or the matte effect will be ruined.

IsaDora “Twin Tip Eyeliner” (€13.75):

How I wish that I had discovered a product like this one in my early teens! It took me years to master the art of liquid eyeliner application and this would have simplified the task to no end. The product can be rotated to create thin or thick lines making it easy to create an even look. It did take me a practice run or two before I mastered the pen (possibly due to the fact that I usually apply eyeliner with a brush), but once I did, I found myself reaching for it every morning. It doesn’t allow the same freedom to create feline flicks offered by a very fine liner brush but, it’s faster to apply than my regular liquid product and the colour intensity can be altered by pressing lightly or heavily against the skin. I would definitely recommend this one to those of you who struggle with creating even liner looks.

Overall, I’m really impressed with the products on offer from the IsaDora Rivera Spring Collection. And, I’m pretty sure that next time I pass an IsaDora make up counter, I will be stopping for a second look – and to pick up a few treats.

All products will be available in pharmacies and department stores nationwide from March 2016. Will you be popping out to purchase anything? I’m dying to try the “Velvet Matt Lips” formula next!

Sleek “Lip VIP Collection” – Review.

1741_007

Thanks to Kylie Jenner, matte lipsticks have become all the rage lately. Unfortunately, when combined with cold Irish weather this trend leads to lips which chap like a cracked mirror. How attractive!

With this beauty dilemma in mind, I recently ventured to the launch of the new Sleek “VIP Lip Collection”. The collection boasts 8 shades and an entirely new formula which promises to upgrade your lips to “very important pout” status. Sounds like a marketing gimmick? Well, bare with me.

The new formula is semi-matte which means that it delivers high intensity pigment, without draining the moisture from your lips. The creamy lipsticks are infused with shea butter, vitamin E and best of all, coconut oil. Anybody who reads this blog will know that I am obsessed with the multi-tasking beauty benefits of coconut oil (you can read all about it here).

All in all, I am really impressed with the lipstick and its’ staying power. The formula distributes evenly and doesn’t cling to dry patches. As you can see from the above image, there’s a shade for every occasion. My favourite is “Backstage” which I have been putting to the test over the past two weeks.

Did I forget to mention? These lipsticks are an absolute bargain at only €7.49 and are available here from DolledUp.ie or in pharmacies nationwide! Sure, you wouldn’t even feel guilty for buying the entire range. Next on my wishlist is the gorgeous neutral shade “Private Booth”. What’s your favourite shade?

Flutter with Fuschia – Mink Lashes Collection.

Sex appeal is 50% what you’ve got, and 50% what people think you’ve got. – Sophia Loren.

Fuschia Lashes

I have always been cautious of spending anywhere between €60-€100 on mink lash extensions. What if they’re uncomfortable and I want to remove them after 24 hours? Are they really worth the investment? After all, I could buy an awful lot of lipsticks with that kind of cash. Well, recently I’ve realised that while life is short, my eyelashes don’t have to be. Let me introduce Fuschia’s “Mink Lashes Collection”.

The new collection includes 8 different styles of faux mink strip lashes priced at only €15 each. Each set of lashes are inspired by and named after an iconic woman in history such as Marilyn Monroe, Grace Jones, Audrey Hepburn and Sophia Loren. I was lucky enough to be gifted two sets of the lashes: “The Ava” and “The Sophia”.

“The Ava”:

These beauties reflect vintage elegance so, you won’t look like you’re capable of sweeping the floor with your eyelashes while wearing them. They provide lift and lengthening, so they’re perfect for daytime and evening wear. These lashes felt really lightweight and not at all uncomfortable. Plus, they had excellent staying power – remaining securely in place for over 12 hours.

“The Sophia”:

“The Sophia” lashes are definitely a “Hollywood Bombshell” option. They’re dramatic, voluminous and fabulous. I will be sporting these on nights out for months to come. Unlike “The Ava” option, these lashes are a little heavy and take some getting used to but after about 20 minutes, I almost forgot that I was wearing them. I really liked the shape of the band, which didn’t need to be cut to size and fitted perfectly along my own lash line. Embarrassingly and as pointed out by my Mum, while I wore these lashes I couldn’t resist taking a peek in the mirror every few minutes to admire them. I think that that makes them a definite winner in the beauty stakes.

On another note, I applied both sets of lashes using a tweezers and “Duo” glue, which is my favourite eyelash adhesive. Both pairs have endured their wear well and I expect to get approximately 5 wears per set – that’s only €3 per wear!

Fuschia mink lashes are now available in selected stores and pharmacies nationwide as well as here at Fuschia.ie.
